
Coach Ty is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman known for his size, skill, and leadership on and off the ice. Drafted 16th overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2006 NHL Draft, he went on to play in the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders, as well as logging over 300 games in the AHL. Wishart also had a successful international career, competing in top leagues across Europe and winning championships in Slovakia and Romania.
Since 2022, Wishart has been a standout in the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) with the Melbourne Mustangs, where he’s consistently ranked among the league’s top defensemen. Beyond his on-ice performance, he plays a vital leadership role with the team, also serving as an assistant coach and Director of Hockey Operations. Ty is a Level 2 IIHF certified coach who loves working with players of all levels—from beginners to elite—and is passionate about developing the next generation of hockey talent. Ty was recently appointed assistant coach for Australia’s National Senior Team, contributing his expertise to the national program.
