Coach Matt is a Canadian / Australian certified IIHF level 2 hockey coach who spent the majority of his life in Canada.

Matt started playing hockey at the young age of 3, playing minor hockey in Ottawa right up until he was drafted by the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL (Ontario Hockey League).

Matt went onto play in the CIS for the Concordia Stingers while studying at university. After university Matt started his professional career where he played professional hockey in the USA, Germany and the Netherlands.

He’s spent the last 9 AIHL seasons with Melbourne Ice, achieving 4 Goodall Cup Championships, 2 Australian National Senior Team IIHF World Championships and 3 AIHL All Star Game appearances.

Matt coached the Melbourne Ice women alongside Tom Powell taking them the title in 2015-16.

As director of the Icehouse Hockey Academy Matt enjoys developing beginner hockey players right up to the elite.

Matt has a strong passion for grass roots hockey.
